What Have I Been Doing Lately???

My neighbor called me to ask if I would be willing to alter her mother's wedding dress to fit her. By the way, she will be getting married in 3 weeks! Well, that left me about 2 weeks to get everything done so that she can have the dressed cleaned and get bridal pix. I had a lot of "projects" (as Katelyn calls them) already in progress and knew I couldn't work on the dress at all for one whole week leaving me with a grand total of 1 week to complete the transformation.  I am happy to report I successfully completed the alterations with one week left until the wedding. I am also eccstatic to state that I did maintain a sense of normalcy in our home and at work. I did not have to pull any all-nighters or even get stressed out. Although the alterations were major, it was not as difficult as I had anticipated. I may be crazy, but I found it kind of fun!

The dress is about 15 years old, so the style was definitely older, but not archaic!

Before

I talked my sister into being my "before" model...thanks Alyssa!

This had to have been quite the dress in its day...I mean look at all of that intricate detail!

Alyssa stood on a cooler just to show how long the dress was.

The best part of the whole thing was that we had yards of fabric to work with!

I know, you can just see the grin on my face. I am such a weirdo!

After

Refreshing?

It was still pretty low in the back, so I put in a small insert.

Better, right?

oMG SOOOO much better! Thank goodness for that train! you took an outdated 80's style dress and made it into something fresh and fun. The top is perfect with the tank style for an outdoor wedding and the the train made a wonderful bottom, I love the bunches of fabric which is so "in" right now. it looks comfortable and easy to move in too...awesome!!
